Welcome
Welcome to the web site for the Past Students Union for St Catherine’s College of Education for Home Economics. The College, known to all who studied there as either ‘St Catherine’s’ or simply as ‘Sion Hill’, closed as a College of Education for Home Economics in September 2007.
In May 2007, the Past Student’s Union held the last reunion in the College It was a memorable occasion for the very large number of graduates who came from all over Ireland and abroad to spend an afternoon reminiscing with old friends, Past lecturers or just simply to wander through the building and remember the place where they spent their student days.
Afternoon tea was served and the CD of photographs of Past Students was launched. This wonderful collection of photographs includes images of students from every year since from the 1930’s onwards.
A book on the history of the College was on sale prior to it’s official launch in June 2007. This is a most interesting book and every past student should avail of the opportunity to read it.
The College is now closed and the Union must look to the future. The 2007 graduates are the last graduates of the College, and last ‘Past Students’.
The Union is of course - your Union – for, without you, the Union has no purpose, it exists both because of you and for you. We hope the web site will provide a contact point for graduates.
We welcome your suggestions for what information should be included and look forward to hearing from you.
